I'm planning to write during my time off, on maybe a children's story or something, since I don't want to go that long without writing anything. Writing isn't a lifeline for me, but I do love my MC and have a feeling I'll really miss him and his story for forty-two days. But I'll be able to think up new ideas, anyway.

I do agree that I might need more flexibility. I'm a pretty rigid person with my life. Something I need to work on ;)Hannah Bartahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16113296657540921039noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5688801025549653143.post-1760369188596227932013-06-07T17:37:27.895-07:002013-06-07T17:37:27.895-07:00This is great. :) The six weeks thing though... yo...This is great. :) The six weeks thing though... you might want to give yourself more flexibility. What I do when I finish a draft (though this may not be the best course of action) is grumpily write random thoughts for a few days (I have gotten to the point where if I do not write I get withdrawal. Which does work as motivation), then get another idea for a story I want to draft or a draft I want to edit, leaving the finished draft in the back of my mind for sometimes a few days, sometimes almost a year. Though your process is different than mine, it's probably not the same every time- of course I'm not an expert. And I'm trying to cut out the grumpy part. :)
From what I've heard, the two most important rules of publishing are- follow the directions and be persistent. Here's a funny post: http://beyondthemargins.com/2011/04/query-letters-that-dont-work-not-even-a-little-bit/ (Warning: a little bit of language on this blog. Very funny and useful, though.)
Great blog! Write on! :)
-OliveAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5688801025549653143.post-20146781323089386372013-04-30T11:13:14.287-07:002013-04-30T11:13:14.287-07:00Any tips on publishing would be awesome! Thankfully I have a very strong MC or I would have quit by now. It's my other characters that need work!Hannah Bartahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16113296657540921039noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5688801025549653143.post-52015184048712378582013-04-30T10:16:10.102-07:002013-04-30T10:16:10.102-07:00Wow - so organized! I wish I had more writers to read over my work though...I should do more of that.
Yes - strengthening of characters! So important! I have to have a strong, worked out first character to start, otherwise my story crumbles and I quit. (rarely, since I know this to be true) Secondary characters I can work on later in the revision...
If you ever want tips on self publishing, just email me! :) I'd be happy to help...

RebeccaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5688801025549653143.post-77643031658236647072013-04-30T09:35:31.677-07:002013-04-30T09:35:31.677-07:00Thanks, Sam! :)Thanks, Sam! :)Hannah Bartahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16113296657540921039noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5688801025549653143.post-32803007410208342672013-04-30T09:28:41.327-07:002013-04-30T09:28:41.327-07:00L.O.L. I'll go listen to Che :)

I sort of choked up when I killed someone in my book too. That was about a year ago now, though. I haven't finished my first draft--hopefully will soon! I am 10 chapters into mine and recently killed off that character I was talking about. You know, the six year old. I. GOT. TEARS. IN. MY. EYES! I hope that's a good thing:/ But yeah, I figured out it's harder to write the chapter AFTER you kill the character than the chapter in which you kill him. I was literally dying! I'm listening to Che by Break of Reality right now:) I know, that's random, but I really like it:) You should look it up and tell me what you think:) Great post anyways!

Layla.Layla https://www.blogger.com/profile/08978531769125028934noreply@blogger.com
