Top Ten Terrific Tales {no. 4}

Anne of Ingleside
Lucy Maud Montgomery

later work. too many ellipses. cute story. has to be read.

Rainbow Valley
Lucy Maud Montgomery

funny. romantic. sad. number seven in her series.

Mansfield Park
Jane Austen

one of her best-plotted. one of the most romantic. one of the most horrible endings.

Northanger Abbey
Jane Austen

simplest of her works. earliest of her works. my personal favorite.

These Happy Golden Years
Laura Ingalls Wilder

one of the sweetest romances ever. should be made a movie out of.

Prince Caspian
C.S. Lewis

epic. heroic. awesome statistics.

Julianne Donaldson

simple. sweet. romantic. beautiful.

Redwall
Brian Jacques

funny. original. cute. talking mouses and ratses. searching for a sword.

Julie Wayner

inspiring. amazing what God can do when someone lets Him.

The Black Stallion Mystery
Walter Farley

interesting. odd. haven't read it in forever and only read it once. can't remember it that well.

  2. I like this method. I also want to read pretty much all of those and re-read the ones I've already read before. Cool new theme too. :)

  4. I've read the first two and love them! I love anything by L. M. Montgomery. Have you read the Emily series by her?
    My top ten:

Emily of New Moon - L. M. Montgomery

    Emily Climbs - L. M. Montgomery

    Emily's Quest - L. M. Montgomery

The Last Sin Eater - Francine Rivers

    Prairie Songs - Pan Conrod

    Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte

    Stepping Heavenward - Elisabeth Prentiss

Jacob Have I Loved - Katherine Patterson

    Prophet - Frank Peretti

Boat Song - Frances Ward Weller

Sarah Plain and Tall - Patricia MacLachlan

Oops...that was eleven. And I can't think of the others that I know I love. LoL

    1. I have read Emily of New Moon, but unfortunately my library didn't have the other two! Hopefully I'll get to them sometime through my ILLiad (interlibrary loan) account.

Nice 10! I haven't read any of those except #1. But I'm going to go put Jacob Have I Loved and Sarah Plain and Tall on my reading list right now!

    2. Forewarn on Jacob have I loved - there are some parts I don't agree with - but Katherine makes her books so alive...I love it. :)
I meant to say I love the new background of your blog! It's adorable, and so cheerful!

    3. Okay, thanks for the warning :) The only reason I've even heard that name is because in our church library there's a movie of it, and I thought it sounded pretty interesting. Do you know when it was written?

Thanks about the background! I'm glad I changed it ... the other background was getting a little stifling. I needed to "open it up" and make it look more inviting to my readers :)

    4. Hey! :) Yes, it was written in 1980. Here's our exact copy... http://www.amazon.com/Jacob-Have-Loved-Catherine-Paterson/dp/B004RZFRNE/ref=sr_1_33?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1367692443&sr=1-33&keywords=Jacob+have+I+loved
Yes, I tend to give links to things that are maybe pointless...:p I just like the cover.
I saw the movie too, but was very young I can't remember much.

It surely looks more inviting! I really like it!
