When
Katherine “Kit” Tyler travels across the Atlantic toward the
colony of Whethersfield in Connecticut, she carries a spunky
personality and a hot temper with her—but no idea of the conflicts
she’ll cause within the colony in the coming months.
I
found this romantic adventure so sweet, so beautiful, and I loved it.
The writing feels very modern at times, but at the same time carries that
classic vibe to it—the perfect combination, I think. I loved Kit,
even though I typically dislike a “defiant” attitude in a young
woman in literature, since it’s so common. Nathaniel Eaton was also
so lovable. The way Elizabeth George Speare made the third-person POV
so personal almost had it
seem as though it were in first-person which, as I’ve said a couple
times on my blog before, is my favorite method of writing.
Agh.
I just wished there was more. And so, for the first time on this
blog. . . .

ten
stars!
I read this book a few years ago and enjoyed it. Lovely that you liked it :-).
ReplyDeleteI know, isn't it great?
DeleteOh my goodness, I love this book! I haven't read it in awhile, but it's definitely one of my favorite classics.
ReplyDeleteOh good! I think it's become one of mine as well :)
Deletesounds really good, and I'm gonna have to read it. ten stars... I'm really curious about it now!
ReplyDeleteOkay, so maybe I should have given it nine . . . but it was really good :) You should definitely read it. I was expecting a lot about witches and magic (so I literally had about no idea what I was reading) but there was practically none--I mean, no magic, and just a bunch of rumors going around about a witch. Not what I expected--probably better than what I expected :)
DeleteOh yes, I LOVE this book!!!!!! And her others: The Bronze Bow, Calico Captive and The The Sign of the Beaver... I'm a big fan of hers. Glad you enjoyed=D
ReplyDeleteLayla.
Oh, I'll have to see about putting those on my list :)
DeleteOh my, I love this book! I've wanted to get it from the library again for so long. Must do now! :D
ReplyDeleteRebecca
Oh, you should, definitely! Isn't it so nice to go back and read such a beautiful book, like this one?
DeleteSo glad you liked this book, Hanz. Long, long ago it was one of my very favorites, along with her Calico Captive. I read them over and over again. Not sure either one of my girls ever read them though. I should have assigned them =)
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog....
Suze
Thanks, Suze! I'll have to read Calico Captive someday. :D
DeleteSearching your blog and liked this.... I actually was astonished by having neighbors who had 6 boxes of books they didn't want *gasp* AND The Witch Of Blackbird Pond was among them *double gasp* *and excited smile* so I read it - after seeing this post I couldn't help it - and loved it!!! (lol that's such a long sentence, sorry ;o ) I vote 10 stars with you!
ReplyDeleteGod bless!
