The Witch of Blackbird Pond

The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare
source
When Katherine “Kit” Tyler travels across the Atlantic toward the colony of Whethersfield in Connecticut, she carries a spunky personality and a hot temper with her—but no idea of the conflicts she’ll cause within the colony in the coming months.

I found this romantic adventure so sweet, so beautiful, and I loved it. The writing feels very modern at times, but at the same time carries that classic vibe to it—the perfect combination, I think. I loved Kit, even though I typically dislike a “defiant” attitude in a young woman in literature, since it’s so common. Nathaniel Eaton was also so lovable. The way Elizabeth George Speare made the third-person POV so personal almost had it seem as though it were in first-person which, as I’ve said a couple times on my blog before, is my favorite method of writing.

Agh. I just wished there was more. And so, for the first time on this blog. . . .

    1. Okay, so maybe I should have given it nine . . . but it was really good :) You should definitely read it. I was expecting a lot about witches and magic (so I literally had about no idea what I was reading) but there was practically none--I mean, no magic, and just a bunch of rumors going around about a witch. Not what I expected--probably better than what I expected :)
